Transportation

Residents and Visitors to the Oakville Real Estate area are serviced by an excellent series of transportation networks.  These including three major highways (Queen Elizabeth Way, Highway 403, 407 Express Toll Route Highway) with direct connections to the U.S. border; two international airports (Lester B. Pearson International Airport, Hamilton’s John C. Munro International Airport) within a 30 minute commute; CN railway mainline providing freight handling facilities; and major shipping ports (Toronto Harbour, Hamilton Harbour) providing access to the 3,747 kilometre (2,342 mile) St. Lawrence Seaway.

The Oakville Real Estate area is also fully serviced by passenger rail service to Union Station in Downtown Toronto, including GO Transit and intercity VIA Rail. Rail passengers can also transfer in Toronto to Amtrak rail services to cities in the USA.  Oakville’s local transit system provides bus service to the community and nearby area residents of Real Estate in Oakville.

Labour Force

Companies within the Oakville Real Estate area also have access to a high quality local work force, as 56% of residents have a post secondary education. Local elementary and secondary schools are supplemented by nine independent schools. Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning main campus is located in the Oakville Real Estate market, and provides a variety of education and training opportunities in business, animation, engineering, arts, social sciences and technical fields. Sheridan provides education to 13,000 full time post secondary students and 37,000 continuing education students.

Quality of Life

The historic Town of Oakville, founded in 1827, has preserved its rich heritage, where many 19th Century buildings are home to over 400 fine shops, services and restaurants. The median household income in the Oakville Real Estate area is estimated at $101,675, about $30,000 more than comparable GTA figure. The downtown is also home to one of two local harbours located on Lake Ontario, which feature over 1,000 slips and moorings for sail and powerboats. Bronte, the location of Oakville's second harbour, has an abundance of fine shops and restaurants with a nautical appeal.

The Oakville Real Estate area also has over 2,400 acres (972 hectares) of park land, two natural harbours, historic buildings, theatres and galleries, Glen Abbey Golf Club - site of the Canadian Open, and the annual Waterfront Festival, and Jazz Festival. Corporate travelers find the Oakville Real Estate region a preferred locations or hub for business in the Toronto/Southwestern Ontario area.
